It is with regret that, in view of the situation with Covid 19 and the various issues that arise as a result, it has been decided to cancel the World Open Transnational Teams on this occasion.
However, a World National Teams Trophy will be introduced in its place, reserved solely for the teams not qualified to the KO stage and the teams not qualified for the Semifinal of the WBTC. There is no entry fee for this event.
The World National Teams Trophy will take place during the second week, starting at 10.00 in the morning on Monday 4th April. The format will be Swiss Teams with the teams from all four Championship events playing together. This will be followed by a KO stage.
The Swiss is normally played as 10-board matches (5 per day) for 15 qualifying rounds (150 boards). The Quarter Final and Semifinal will be played on Thursday 7thth April, both on 32 board/matches (two sessions of 16). The Final (48 board/match – 3 sessions of 16) & Play-off
(2 sessions of 16) will be played on Friday 26th August.
A BAM event will be organised on 7th and 8th of April for the teams not qualified to the KO stage in this event. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams in this event.
Medals & WBF MP will be awarded for the World National Teams Trophy. In addition, medals will be awarded for the leading teams not winning overall medals in each of the four categories Open, Women, Seniors & Mixed.
