When you are at the top of your game, the luck tends to go with you. When you are below your best it tends to go the other way.
That has certainly been the case for the English team so far – as witness this deal from Round 4:

Perhaps suspecting that a double might be coming, West decided to take a bid, but to be honest 1NT is unsound. Had North doubled, which is certainly the indicated action, East would probably have bid 2Picche when South would have joined the party. Even if East passes, the defenders should be able to collect ten tricks against 1NT doubled.
