3^rd Small Federations Online Open Teams

The 3rd Small Federations Online Open Teams will take place on the RealBridge platform on 15 – 18 October 2026 and 22 – 25 October 2026. The event is organised on behalf of the WBF by the WBF Small Federations Committee, and the Supplemental Conditions of Contest are published here.

Format

• A partial round robin of 12 matches, each of 12 boards. An official draw is made before play and published on the event microsite.
• Each team plays to its own schedule, so that matches fall within the team's time zone.
• The time allowed is 7 minutes 30 seconds per board, giving 90 minutes for the round.
• Each match is worth 20 Victory Points, apportioned on the WBF VP scale. A team with a bye receives 12 VPs, and final rankings follow the total VPs scored.

Entering a team

• This is a representative event for invited small NBOs. Each team consists of a captain and players from the same invited NBO, and is entitled to eight playing members.
• The entry fee is 160 USD per team.
• Players must be 16 years or older, in good standing with their NBO, and are subject to approval by the WBF Credentials Committee.
• Every player must have signed and submitted the WBF Participant's Commitment Form before the start of the event.
• Each captain must provide an e-mail address and check it regularly for information or queries from the organisers.

Key dates

• Team registration closes on 17 September 2026, through the registration system described on the event microsite.
• The availability form must be returned by 28 September 2026. Teams supply their exact availability on the playing days, at least 36 hours in total, and this constitutes a commitment to play at those times.
• Systems must be registered by 8 October 2026. Late submission carries VP penalties under the GCoC.
• Teams may change or add members, and submit minor changes to their systems, up to 12 October 2026 (all changes subject to approval by the Credentials Committee).

Systems

The WBF Systems Policy 2024 applies. This is a Category 3 event, so no HUM or Brown Sticker methods are permitted, and both members of a partnership must adopt the same methods in the auction and in their carding. Each team is allowed a maximum of five system cards; cards must be typed in English, submitted as PDF on the current WBF card, and registered cards are published on the championship web page.

Playing conditions

Each NBO designates one or more supervised playing sites, covered by a webcam that the Tournament Directors can view remotely and managed by an independent supervisor who is neither the coach nor the captain. Players use a laptop, desktop or tablet with a separate keyboard — never a smart phone — with camera, microphone and speakers switched on and the face visible throughout. Spectators/Kibitzers

During play, nobody is permitted in the RealBridge session except the four players of each team, the Tournament Directors, RealBridge support staff and representatives of the WBF. Everyone else, including team members not currently playing, may watch through the delayed kibitzing facility at https://kibitz.realbridge.online.
