Registration of Systems
- Systems must be registered by 14 July, and should be sent to systems@worldbridgefed.com . All emails with systems will be acknowledged, so that you can check that it has been received.
- Changes to registered systems may be made up to 21 July. These can only be clarification or correction of typographical errors and any changes must be highlighted for the convenience of other captains.
- Advance registration of systems is not required for the Transnational Teams, but all pairs in that event must bring printed copies of their systems, correctly formatted, to give their opponents at the table.
- Late submission of system cards for a team will result in a 2VP penalty for that team.
Please check the following links for essential information about the registration of system cards.
Things to note:
- The Bermuda Bowl and Venice Cup (including the respective play-offs) are Category 1 events. In Category 1 events all systems are allowed in the knock-out stages. HUM systems and Brown Sticker conventions are prohibited in the round-robin. They may be used in the knockout stages of both events, provided additional, separate System Cards are submitted in accordance with the regulations.
- The d’Orsi Seniors Trophy and the Wuhan Cup are Category 2 events. HUM systems are not permitted at any stage but Brown Sticker methods may be used in the KO stages provided they have been registered correctly using the appropriate forms in accordance with the regulations.
- A pair may register a maximum of three Brown Sticker conventions.
- Up to four systems may be registered for each team unless a pair has submitted one card for the RR and a separate BS or HUM card for the KO, in which case this counts as one card and not two
The cards must be prepared using the WBF Template in Word or Excel
- Players are reminded not to use either ‘Numbers’ or ‘Pages’ on a Mac as these do not convert correctly to PDF. Google docs is not suitable for the preparation of system cards as again, it will not format them properly.
- Cards must be legible and print on two sides – cards that do not do so will be rejected.
- Supplementary sheets (maximum 6) must be cross referenced to the card.
- Cards and supplementary sheets may ideally be sent as PDFs, or if necessary as Word or Excel files. Please ensure that any PDFs submitted are reasonably sized files (under 1M, preferably under 500k)
- Cards should be sent to systems@worldbridgefed.com
- The file should be named with the name of the players and the team they represent (for example: Newton-Newton Scotland Open). This makes it easier for the other captains and also for the general registration of systems.
- For all events, including the Transnational Teams, players must have hard copies of their cards, correctly printed, to take to the table. No photocopying facilities will be available at the venue, so it is important that sufficient copies are brought to allow for cards being mislaid.
- Once all the cards are registered for a National team, that team will be sent the link to the other registered systems in that series.
- Systems Policy Change: Please note that as of January 1st2025 the use of a written defence against the Multi 2 Diamonds (or 2 Clubs) is no longer permitted in WBF events
